Information on Icebreaking Escorts in the Seaports of the Russian Federation as of December 20
The icebreaking escort period of 2016-2017 has been declared in water areas of the following seaports: Big Port Saint Petersburg, Vyborg, Vysotsk, Arkhangelsk, Kandalaksha, Sabetta, Magadan, Olya, Rostov-on-Don, Azov, Taganrog, Eysk.
As of December 20, from the start of navigation 2016, the FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers escorted over 290 vessels.
Arctic Basin
Icebreaking escorts in the seaport of Sabetta water area are carried out by Moskva and Tor icebreakers. The number of the vessels escorted from the start of icebreaking escorts is 20.
White Sea
At this section the vessel traffic is currently ensured by Kapitan Kosolapov, Kapitan Evdokimov and Kapitan Chadaev icebreakers. From the start of winter navigation 25 vessels have been escorted.
Gulf of Finland
14 icebreakers are ready for operation in the Gulf of Finland, of which Semen Dezhnev, Mudyug, Ivan Kruzenshtern and Kapitan Izmailov are carrying out icebreaking escort. From the start of navigation 92 vessels have been escorted.
Azov Sea
Icebreaking escorts to the seaports of Azov, Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog and Eysk are carried out by four icebreakers: Kapitan Moshkin, Kapitan Chudinov, Kapitan Demidov and Kapitan Krutov. The number of vessels escorted from the start of winter navigation in the region is 91.
Caspian Sea
Escort of vessels on the Volga-Caspian Maritime Shipping Canal is carried out by icebreakers Kapitan Chechkin, Kapitan Metsaik and Kapitan Bukaev. From the start of winter navigation 56 vessels have been escorted.
FSUE “Rosmorport”, as operator of the largest diesel icebreaking fleet comprising 34 icebreakers of different capacities, guarantees year-round accessibility of Russian seaports.
