Mir Sailing Ship Arrives in Saint Petersburg

Mir sailing training ship owned by FSUE “Rosmorport” arrived in Saint Petersburg. The frigate moored at berth of the city passenger port after a sea voyage, which lasted over 7 months.

During the voyage, Mir took part in the Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2016. This year, it once again reaffirmed its title of the world's fastest sailing ship and took first place in the all three stages of the competition.

On November 29, 2016, an official ceremony of welcoming the sailing training ship was held, where the cadets were greeted by deputy director for personnel and administrative issues of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch Aleksandr Strelnikov, Captain of the seaport Big Port Saint Petersburg Aleksandr Volkov, General Director of JSC “Passenger Port of Saint Petersburg “Morskoy Fasad” Vadim Kashyrin and other officials.

Currently, on the sailing ship students of Siberian State University of Water Transport are passing practical training, during which the cadets receive experience of navigation in the open sea and solidify the theoretical knowledge acquired in the educational institution.

In December 2016, after the completion of the practical training of students, planned internavigational repair of the frigate will be started: preventive maintenance of catering equipment as well as maintenance of the systems and mechanisms of the sailing ship.
