Mir Sailing Ship Wins the Third Race of the Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2016

According to the results of three races, Mir sailing training ship became the winner of the SCF Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2016.

The regatta participants awarding ceremony was held on October 2, 2016 in Varna (Bulgaria). All vessels came to the place of the official closing ceremony with engines off, as the organizers took decision on the early completion of the third race due to the changeable headwind, which did not allow the race to keep within the allotted time,.

Mir sailing ship managed by FSUE “Rosmorport” won all three stages of the race. Another enterprise’s vessel – Nadezhda sailing ship finished the second at the Sochi-Varna stage. The final results of the regatta will be summed up in several days.

During the awarding ceremony, chairman of the Sail Training International (STI) Training Sailing Ships Association Robin Snouck Hurgronje thanked the city residents and guests for their interest in the race and a warm welcome.

Mir sailing ship was also awarded a special prize for its contribution to the regatta sports life. The crew became the winner in volleyball and tug-of-war, and also took the third place in the football tournament. During the stay in Varna, the ship was visited by the Russian Consul General Sergey Lukyanchuk.

Nadezhda sailing ship was awarded a special prize as well, being a vessel which had passed the largest distance from the seaport of registration for participation in the races. The vessel, on board of which over 100 cades of maritime college under Admiral Nevelsky MSU were passing practical training, leaved Vladivostok for the Black Sea on June 28, 2016.
