The stay of Tall Ships of the Black Sea Regatta in Sochi came to the end. On September 25, 2016 27 participants of the competition lined up at the start position and headed for Varna, where the results of the Black Sea Regatta will be summed up.

The FSUE “Rosmorport” sailing flotilia represented by vessels Mir, Nadezhda and Khersones started along with other participants.

During the regatta in Sochi the city residents and guests had an opportunity to visit the legendary vessels, see the ceremonial parade of crews, take part in the regatta events. The festive program included musical concerts and sport events.

On September 23 a memorable initiation ceremony for the cabin boy winners of the Russian geographic society contest was held of board of Mir. According to maritime tradition if storm results in teared sail, its fragments are presented to young sailors as a memorable gift. During difficult stage of the race along Novorossiysk - Sochi route, one of Mir sails was damaged by strong wind. This very sail was shared among the contest winners.

The same night, special evening with the USSR national artist Visiliy Lanovoy was held on Khersones sailing ship. He told about his creative development and at the end of the evening a shanty chorus concert was held on the sailing ship.

Completion of the third stage of the regatta, according to tradition, was marked with fire show which on September 22 lighted the Olympic Games capital.

The next and final race of the regatta will be held on route Sochi - Varna. The last Regatta competition will be the longest - about 520 nautical miles. The sailing ships are planned to arrive in Bulgaria on October 1.
