On September 16, 2016 Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation - Head of the Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport Viktor Olersky held a working meeting in the FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan Branch.

The meeting was attended by FSUE “Rosmorport” General Director Andrey Tarasenko, Minister of Industry, Transport and Natural Resources of the Astrakhan region Radik Kharisov, head of FSBI “Caspian Sea seaports administration” Magomed Abdullatipov and others.

The meeting participants discussed progress of the implementation of dredging in the Volga-Caspian Marine Shipping Canal (VCMSC) for 2016 and the prospects of the repair dredging in 2017. Also at the meeting there were discussed issues on intraport pilotage of vessels in the water areas of the seaports of Astrakhan and Olya and organization of the pilot service operation in the VCMSC water area.
