On September 16, 2016 a press-conference was held in Novorossiysk in the framework of the Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2016.

The event was attended by Acting Head of the city of Novorossiysk Municipality Igor Dyachenko, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport Aleksandr Poshivay, FSUE “Rosmorport” Executive Director Andrey Lavrishchev and others.

The press-conference was held on board of Mir sailing ship owned by FSUE “Rosmorport”. All the conference participants greeted teams of the Regatta and noted significance of such events for the Russian Federation Black Sea coast trade and touristic infrastructure development.

Acting Head of the city of Novorossiysk Municipality Igor Dyachenko noted that those day’s events were very important for the city life:

“We are celebrating the day of the city. Today is anniversary of the defeat of Nazi troops at the Novorossiysk walls. Arrival of the Black Sea Tall Ships Regatta 2016 is a wonderful event of the autumn, necessary for our region and, of course, the city”.

FSUE “Rosmorport” Executive Director Andrey Lavrishchev, in turn, pointed out that three sailing ships of the enterprise – Mir, Nadezhda and Khersones – were taking part in the race. He also noted that after 10 years of standby a restoring repair of Khersones was carried out together with Rosmorrechflot. The majority of mechanisms of the vessel were freshly installed. Mr. Lavrishchev stressed that berths 34, 34A and 35 were specially reconstructed for this event.

According to the results of the conference, the participants wished the teams good luck in the upcoming race and a fair wind.
