Khersones Sailing Ship Successfully Completes Sea Trials

On September 2, 2016 Khersones sailing ship successfully completed sea trials. In the morning the ship put to the sea from the South Bay of the city of Sevastopol for checking steering, anchor and mooring equipment, main engine, controllable pitch propeller systems, radio communication, electrical and radio navigation devices.

Checking of all systems and mechanisms was successful. For the first time in 10 years the sailing ship moved using its own engine.

During the trials emergency response drills (practice alert) were carried out on the vessel, such as “Abandonment of Vessel”, “Man Overboard” and “Rescue Boat Maneuvering”. Besides, cadets of the Moscow State Academy of Water Transport and the Sevastopol Branch of Admiral Ushakov Maritime State University, passing practical training on Khersones, exercised in setting sails, mast lifting on foresail and guard boat launching.
