Mir Sailing Ship Successfully Passed the First Stage of “Tall Ships Races 2016”

On July 22, 2016 FSUE “Rosmorport” Mir Training Sailing Ship (TSS) moored in the seaport of Lisbon (Portugal). The vessel successfully completed the first stage of “Tall Ships Races 2016” having finished first of its class.

In total, there are 4 classes: A, B, C, D. Vessel’s class depends on its length, waterline length and sailing equipment type. Mir TSS is related to A class and is the biggest vessel (length is 109 m) participated in the regatta.

As a part of the first stage of the race, the sailing ship crew also took part in marine competitions having won the first places in tug of war, breath-holding, orienteering and climbing.

After the awarding ceremony the winners and supporters participated in ceremonial parade and were able to enjoy the concert and fireworks.

On July 25 the second stage of the race started in the seaport of Lisbon (Portugal), which will be finished on July 28 in the seaport of Cadiz (Spain).
