On July 6, 2016 Mir Training Sailing ship moored in the seaport of Antwerp (Belgium), where on June 7-10 an official opening of The Tall Ships Races 2016 will be held.

Exactly 60 years ago, in 1956, the first regatta of this series of races was held. This year, 50 sailing ships from 30 countries will contest for the prestigious international award of the anniversary race.

Mir Training Sailing ship is one of the fastest sailing ships in the world. From 1996 it became Тhe Tall Ships Races winner five times.

This year, the vessel’s honor will be defended by 132 cadets of “Maritime Academy” Institute of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping and Maritime technical college.

The race first stage starts on July 10. Vessels will go from Antwerp to the seaport of Lisbon (Portugal).
