Currently, repair is being completed on the vessel and then a practical training of cadets is planned.

During the capital repairs of the vessel, systems and ship mechanisms fault detection, dock repair, replacement of deck flooring, repair of electrical equipment, masts and yards, surface and underwater parts of the body, painting have already been carried out.

Khersones Sailing Training Ship was laid in Gdansk shipyard (Poland) in 1987, in 1989 it was launched.  The frigate is built according to the prototype of sailing ships of the early XX century and has a complete sail rigging of the “ship” type. 26 sails are controlled only by hand and provide the main vessel’s movement.

Today, the vessel is the only sailing ship in the world, which in 1997 reached Cape Horn under sail.

In June 2016 FSUE “Rosmorport” and Sevastopol Government signed an agreement on cooperation in the operation of Khersones Sailing Training Ship.
