Mir Sailing Ship Takes Part in Days of Russia in Germany

On May 25, 2016 Governor of the Leningrad Region Aleksandr Drozdenko and Prime Minister of the Federal State Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Erwin Sellering visited Mir sailing ship, which was staying in the seaport of Warnemunde (Germany) during the celebration of “Russland TAG 2016”.

The honored guests greeted cadets of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, which did practical training on the ship. For the delegation members there was prepared an excursion to the navigation bridge, during which they were told about the training sailing ship, shipowner, cadets practice and plans for 2016.

Mir sailing ship will stay in Warnemunde till May 29, and then will head for the seaport of Travemunde (Germany).

The three-masted training sailing ship “Mir” was built in 1987 at the Gdansk shipyard (Poland). Since 2015 it has been owned by FSUE “Rosmorport”. “Mir” is considered to be the fastest sailing ship in the world. Throughout its history, she won over 20 races, including the Grand regatta, dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America.
