General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport” Andrey Tarasenko Takes Part in Expanded Wrap-up Meeting of the Rosmorrechflot Board

On 30 March, 2016 the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation – Head of Rosmorrechflot Viktor Olersky chaired the expanded wrap-up meeting of the Rosmorrechflot Board and Social Council under Rosmorrechflot at the Moscow State Academy of Water Transport.

The meeting was attended by Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Maxim Sokolov, Head of the Federal Water Resources Agency (Rosvodresursy) Marina Seliverstova, Deputy Head of Federal Service for Supervision of Transport (Rostransnadzor)
Sergey Zaritskiy, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Coordination Transport meeting of CIS countries Alexander Davydenko, General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport” Andrey Tarasenko, representatives of the Presidential Executive Office of Russia, the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and other representatives of legislative and executive authorities, business structures, non-governmental organizations and associations of sea and river transport.

The main topics of discussion were the results of the Maritime and inland waterway transport work in 2015 and the goals for 2016 and the medium term until 2018.

The meeting noted the increase in cargo handling in seaports of the country, the increase of port capacity, as well as positive dynamics in the construction of the public fleet.

In 2015 the cargo turnover of seaports exceeded 676 million tonnes, which was 5.7% more than in 2014. Cargo transportation along the Northern Sea Route increased significantly. Sustainable development of infrastructure in the seaports of Murmansk and Sabetta, Kaliningrad, Big Port of Saint Petersburg, Ust-Luga, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Vanino, Vostochny, Novorossiysk, Taman, Temryuk was also noted. In the framework of implementation of federal target programmes, the facilities with handling capacity of more than 23 million tonnes have been commissioned: construction of the first phase of a multifunctional transshipment complex ”Bronka” has been completed, the roadstead transshipment complex in the seaport of Murmansk commissioned, and  the berths in the seaport of Anadyr reconstructed. In order to address the challenges for improving the competitiveness and effective capacity of the sea transport fleet, in 2015 two diesel-electric icebreakers, Vladivostok and Murmansk, with a capacity of 16 MW were commissioned.

Summing up the meeting, the participants identified priorities for 2016. The main objectives in the coming year are: development of infrastructure of the Northern Sea Route, increasing the proportion of vessels under the Russian flag, as well as the expansion of transport services export.
