Information on Icebreaker Support in Seaports of the Russian Federation

From the start of navigation in the Russian freezing seaports, the icebreakers of FSUE “Rosmorport” escorted over 2 and a half thousand vessels as of February 25, 2016. For the period of 19 to 25 of February 278 ships were escorted.

The White Sea

Currently, in this water area the vessel traffic is provided by four icebreakers: Kapitan Evdokimov, Kapitan Chadaev, Dikson and Kapitan Dranitsyn. From the start of winter navigation 160 vessels have been escorted.

Gulf of Finland

Currently, icebreaker support in the region is provided by 5 icebreakers of the enterprise.  There are 8 icebreakers in the operational reserve. Icebreakers Moskva and Tor are operating in Sabetta Seaport. From the start of navigation 611 vessels have been escorted.

The Azov and Caspian seas

Vessels in the seaports Azov, Rostov-on-don, Taganrog and Yeysk are escorted by icebreakers Kapitan Moshkin, Kapitan Chudinov, Kapitan Demidov and Kapitan Krutov. On the Volga-Caspian Sea Shipping Channel icebreaker support is provided by icebreakers Kapitan Chechkin, Kapitan Metsayk and Kapitan Bukayev.

Captains of the seaports Rostov-on-don, Azov, Taganrog, Yeisk, Astrakhan and Olya announced the completion of the icebreaker support period at 00 hours on February 25, 2016. The number of the vessels that have been escorted in the mentioned basins since the start of winter navigation amounts to 1417 and 486 respectively.
