In 2015 FSUE “Rosmorport” Performs Dredging Works in the Amount of More Than 8 mln Cubic Meters

FSUE “Rosmorport” is the largest infrastructure company that exercises operational management over 50% of all berthing facilities in 57 out of 67 Russian seaports. The enterprise owns 32 access channels in the seaports of the country with the overall length of 772 kilometers.

To ensure safe entry of vessels to seaports, FSUE “Rosmorport” is implementing a complex of measures for safety of life at sea. Safety of navigation is guaranteed by maintaining rated depths of the water areas of Russian seaports, which is achieved by conducting dredging works.

In 2015 FSUE “Rosmorport” conducted repair dredging in the access channels and water areas of Russian seaports in the amount of 8,5 mln cubic meters. This is a record amount in the history of the enterprise.

Most of the dredging was conducted in the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal (VCSC) and amounted to 4 mln cubic meters. Because of the considerable changes in the hydrological regime of the Volga-Caspian Seaway Canal the volumes of dredging at the canal were increased almost twice in comparison with those in 2013. The dredging works that have been conducted this year will allow the vessels with the draft up to 4.2 meters to navigate safely. A great amount of dredging has also been conducted at the Taganrog Access Channel where more than 1.5 cubic meters of soil has been excavated.

This considerable material and economical effect in repair dredging has been achieved by the enterprise by using its own dredging fleet. Out of the total amount of works, 4.3 mln cubic meters has been extracted by enterprise's own equipment. Moreover, in order to optimize costs of navigation safety support, FSUE “Rosmorport” is implementing a range of works aimed at the expansion of its dredging fleet.
