Russian Flag Hoisted on-board of Vladivostok Icebreaker

On 23 September 2015 in Saint-Petersburg the state flag of the Russian Federation was hoisted Vladivostok diesel-electrical icebreaker constructed at Vyborgsky shipyard by FSUE "Rosmorport" order.
 
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Viktor Olersky, acting head of federal agency of marine and in-land transport Sergey Gorelik, Executive Director of FSUE "Rosmorport" Andrey Lavrischev, vice-governor of the Leningrad Region Dmitry Yalov, president of JSC “OSK” Aksey Rakhmanov and others.
 
In his tour around the ship Deputy Minister of Transport was demonstrated the helipad, cabins and crew working places, and the navigation bridge.
 
The master reported on the new icebreaker advantages: improved performance, convenient handling, engineering up-dates and new capabilities.
 
In his speech Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Viktor Olersky expressed gratitude to the Vyborgsky shipyard team for the effort they have put into construction and noted that well co-ordinated work resulted in a modern vessel, which will help to manage the settled goals, ensuring at the same time comfortable environment for the crew’s best performance.
 
After Deputy Minister wished the crew fair wind and a following sea the flag was hoisted.
 
The icebreaker is the main of three liner diesel-electrical icebreakers with capacity of 18 MW that are planned to be set into operation in 2015 – 2016. Construction of the vessels is being carried out in accordance with the federal target program “Development of the Russia transport system (2010 – 2020)”.
 
 Vladivostok is an icebreaker of a new generation with unlimited navigation area and highly automated equipment. It can go through ice with width of up to 1.5 m. It is propelled by two full-revolving rudders.
 
The icebreaker is for self-dependent pilotage of large-capacity vessels, towage, salvage and cargo transshipment. For these purposes Vladivostok has the deck for cargo containers and a crane with carrying capacity of 26 tons. Fuel endurance of the vessels is 40 days. The protected foredeck of the icebreaker is equipped with a helipad
 
Setting the icebreaker into operation is planned on the end of 2015.
