The Mir Training Sailing Ship Celebrates 70th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Port of Hamburg (Germany)

In May 2015 the Mir sailing ship made a training voyage to Port of Hamburgб where it took part in the festive events commemorated to the celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

On the threshold of the holiday, representatives of FSUE “Rosmorport”, ship master and crew together with Consul General of Russia in Hamburg Ivan Khotulev, representatives of Hamburg City and Port of Hamburg Administration, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, and former prisoners of concentration camps layd wreaths at the memorial cross marking the tomb of 652 Soviet prisoners of war, who died in concentration camps, and also took part in the memorial service.

Celebrations of the Victory Day opened with a dress parade and running up the Victory Banner. The participants expressed gratitude to the veterans and congratulated them on the great holiday. By tradition, after the solemn part the guests were treated with real frontline food – botrtshch and macaroni po-flotski (navy-style macaroni).
