Additional Berth for the Crimea-Kavkaz Ferry Line

On 26 April a solemn opening of reconstructed berth No. 28 designed for handling large cargo-passenger ferries took place in Kavkaz Seaport.

The ceremony was attended by FSUE “Rosmorport” Executive Director Andrey Lavrishchev, Minister of Transport of the Crimea Republic Andrey Bezsalov, as well as representatives of the Krasnodar Territory Administration and Marine Directorate.

The berth had been reconstructed in January-April 2015 by the FSUE “Rosmorport” Azovo-Chernomorsky Basin Branch. The reconstruction was aimed to increase the flow capacity of the berth and to organize regular passenger shipping at the Kerch ferry line. All in all only 6 berths in the seaport can handle cargo-passenger ferries.

During the reconstruction a unified berth wall line was created, and a station for ferries’ ramps was built. According to new characteristics, the berth can handle ships of 100 metres in length and 5 metres in draught.

Implementation of such measures will allow to increase the flow capacity of the Kerch ferry line.
