Dredging Works Resumed in Sabetta Seaport

In early August 2014, after opening of summer navigation in Sabetta Seaport, the Arkhangelsk Branch resumed dredging works in the framework of the project for the construction of the federal property facilities in that seaport.

The enterprise has in time summoned up 19 dredging and auxiliary vessels, which will be used in 2014 for dredging in the sea and approach canals, and also in the operational basin of the seaport. At present there are 5 hopper dredgers working in the sea canal, which is under construction. Meanwhile, one milling dredger with three hopper barges are working in the approach canal of the seaport. Almost 7 million cubic metres of soil have already been extracted in August with the help of those vessels, making up a third of the planned amount of dredging in 2014.

The enterprise has been conducting dredging works in Sabetta Seaport since 2012. During the last two years the total amount of dredging in the approach canal and at the berths in the operational basin of the seaport was almost 10.9 million square metres. This year it is planned to double the construction dynamics indicators with the estimated dredging amount of 21.5 million cubic metres.

Apart from dredging the enterprise is going to start the construction of the root part of the southern-western ice protective structure in Sabetta Seaport and of the control and corrective station, in order to create safe conditions for the vessels calling at Sabetta Seaport.

More information on the construction of the federal property facilities by FSUE “Rosmorport” is available in the section “Development of Port Infrastructure Facilities by Arkhangelsk Branch”.
