FSUE “Rosmorport” signs a contract with the Onega Shipyard for the construction of three ice-class tugboats

FSUE “Rosmorport” has concluded a contract with the Onega Shipyard, JSC for the construction of three tugboats with ice class Arc4 of the NE038 project. The Nordic Engineering, JSC design company acts as the designer of the new vessels.

The main purpose of the tugboats is to pilot and border large-tonnage vessels, deliver pilots to vessels, tow self-propelled and non-self-propelled vessels, floating facilities and structures both on clean water and in ice conditions.

Tugboats can also be used to get vessels afloat, to assist in extinguishing fires on vessels, floating and coastal facilities, to participate in operations to eliminate emergency oil spills without getting in oil slicks, to transport special personnel, cargo on the upper deck, to set and put away beacons.

The autonomy of tugs in terms of fuel, oil, water and provisions will be at least 10 days in continuous economic operation.

The ice class will allow the vessels to operate year-round in non-arctic freezing seas.

The first of the tugboats is to be delivered in 2025, the second and the third ones are scheduled for 2026.
