FSUE "Rosmorport" completes icebreaking assistance in the Azov Sea and Caspian Sea

The icebreaking assistance season has ended in the waters of the freezing seaports of the Azov Sea and Caspian Sea and on the approaches to them.

On March 5, due to the improvement of the ice situation, restrictions on navigation in the seaports of Astrakhan and Olya and on the Volga-Caspian Sea Shipping Canal were lifted. The icebreaking assistance season in the seaports of Azov, Taganrog and Rostov-on-Don has ended on March 1, and in the seaport of Eysk – on February 22.

FSUE “Rosmorport” icebreakers Kapitan Chudinov, Kapitan Demidov, Kapitan Moshkin, Kapitan Krutov, icebreaker-tugboat Fanagoria and the ice-class tugboat Georgy Sedov were carrying out ice navigation in the Sea of Azov during the completed icebreaking assistance season. Icebreakers Kapitan Bukaev, Kapitan Chechkin and Kapitan Metsayk were carrying out ice navigation in the Caspian Sea.

The icebreaking assistance season for sailing to/from the freezing seaports of the Azov Sea and Caspian Sea started in mid-December 2023.

To date, the icebreakers of FSUE “Rosmorport” continue to perform icebreaking navigation for vessels sailing to the Russian seaports of the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic Sea, the Sea of Japan, the White Sea and the Sea of Okhotsk.

The enterprise’s icebreaking flotilla, the largest one in the world, includes 34 icebreakers and ice-class tugs.
