Results of Cup of the Optimist Class Association, the children's sailing regatta, summed up

The results of the sixth and final qualifying children's sailing regatta for the championship of Russia 2023 - Cup of the Optimist Class Association – have been summed up in St. Petersburg. FSUE “Rosmorport” was the general partner of the competition, which took place from August 5 to 11 in the port of Smolenka.

196 athletes from Kaliningrad Region, Moscow Region and Samara Region, as well as Krasnodar Territory, Moscow and St. Petersburg participated in the regatta. Four sets of medals were awarded at the competitions among boys and girls under 16 and 12 years old. During the regatta, the owners of the last 15 vouchers for the Russian championship, which will be held from September 4 to 10 in Samara Region, were determined.

Andrei Zhakov won the boy’s race, while Kseniya Makarova won the girl’s one. Both winners are from St. Petersburg. Alexander Sheiko (Samara Region) became the leader among junior boys, and Anastasiya Kuznetsova (St. Petersburg) was the firths among junior girls.

“You are the future of our marine industry, and I am sure that you will make a worthy contribution to the development of the Russian Federation,” Alexander Strelnikov, Director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch, addressed the participants of the race during the award ceremony.
