A solemn ceremony was held at the Onezhsky Shipbuilding and Ship-Repairing Plant on May 4, 2018 to launch the Fortuna mark boat with ice reinforcement.

The ceremony involved Head of the Republic of Karelia Artur Parfenchikov, member of the Russian Federation Council Alexander Rakitin, acting Minister for the Economic Development and Industry of the Republic of Karelia Alexander Lomako, adviser to the Petrozadovsk City District Head Eduard Marchenko, representatives of FSUE “Rosmorport” and the Marine Technics Group of Companies, the management of the Onezhsky Shipbuilding and Ship-Repairing Plant.

The ceremony of “baptizing” the vessel has been held during the event. By the fleet’s tradition, the plant’s design-engineer, V.S. Ustinkina, who is also the boat’s godmother, smashed a bottle of champagne on the vessel and demonstrated the beginning of its new life.

The Fortuna mark boat with ice reinforcement of Project 02780M (P. 053) is designed to install and survey floating aids to navigation on the approaches to and the water area of the seaport, to maintain them in the water area, and to implement additional functions to transship general cargoes on the deck with loading-unloading operations with the aid of the port’s equipment or the vessel’s crane. Kaliningrad will become the new home port of the vessel.
