A press conference on the results of the Big Ethnographic Dictation was held in Moscow on December 12, 2017.

The international information campaign took place on the 2,600 platforms throughout the country and abroad on November 3, 2017. This year a total of 367 thousand residents of Russia and other 14 countries have participated in the campaign that exceeded the last year’s figures by four times.

The Vladivostok icebreaker has become one of the most distinctive platforms. The action has involved the captain of the icebreaker and crewmembers, as well as employees of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk Branch.

According to head of the Federal Agency for Nationality Affairs Igor Barinov, the average point gained by FSUE “Rosmorport” employees was 23,4 out of 30. That was one of the highest points and proved specialists’ good grounding.

Upon completion of the event the icebreaker was recognized as the bravest platform where the Big Ethnographic Dictation had been held.

The campaign’s task is to form its participants’ willingness to study their roots, the ancestors’ traditions, and to learn more about those who live nearby. Knowledge of the history is the basis for mutual respect and accord between the peoples of different nationalities. The Big Ethnographic Dictation gives a possibility to Russian peoples to feel attention and care of the society and the state in order to keep the diversity of national cultures and traditions. It also stresses Russia’s spiritual wealth.
