FSUE “Rosmorport” Takes Part in Transportation of Crimean Bridge Arch

Pilots of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Crimean Basin Branch took part in the maritime operation for transporting the railway arch of the Crimean bridge.

On August 27 before putting out to sea the constructors loaded the arch with the weight of 6,000 tons on floating piers. Overnight into August 28 the floating system began its 5-km route to the bridge's line from the Kerch coast.

Transportation to the site of installation of the railway arch of the bridge involved the most experienced specialists of FSUE “Rosmorport”, such as deputy director for navigation safety of the Crimea Basin Branch Anatoly Kochnev; head of the pilotage service of the port of Kerch of the Crimea Basin Branch Ilya Goryachev;  shift chief, pilot of 1st category Sergei Voronov; shift chief, pilot of 1st category Yuri Erokhin; pilot of 1st category Vladimir Gavrikov. It took about five hours to carry out the unique operation for starting movement of the arch to the piers under pilotage escort.

Sailors installed the floating system into the line between fairway supports with the maximum hollow space of up to 65 cm.

Raising the arch to the projected height will become the next step. The arch span 227 m in length and 45 m in height will be installed on fairway supports 35 m in height.

FSUE “Rosmorport” Kerch and Kavkaz vessel tracking management systems ensure safe navigation in the Kerch Strait in the course of the maritime operation in the area of bridge construction.

The second phase of the maritime operation is aimed at installing the highway arch of the Crimean bridge. It is scheduled for September.
