Mir Sailing Ship Prepares For Race

On July 13, 2017 the Mir sailing ship arrived in the seaport of the city of Kotka (Finland) to join The Tall Ships Races 2017 prestigious regatta. Upon arrival at the port the crew members of the Mir sailing ship took part in the parade of crews.

During the regatta, cadets of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping and the St Petersburg City Palace of Youth Creativity will help the Mir sailing ship defend the title of one of the fastest sailing vessels. From July 5 to September 28, 2017 cadets are undergoing navigation training aboard the ship and learning sailing navigation in open sea.

An open board has been organized in Kotka, and excursions are also arranged for everyone who is interested. The sailing ship's crew demonstrates the vessel's construction to the guests and helps them to get acquainted with the style of way aboard the one of the finest and fastest vessels.

The Mir sailing ship will stay in Finland till July 16 along with other participants. The seaport of Tallin (Estonia) will be the next destination point for the sailing ships. The Mir is planning to arrive in Tallin on July 17.
