The guests of the holiday will take part in an exciting program, which includes a fascinating parade, unique theatrical and musical performances, a fair, fireworks and, of course, an opportunity to visit vessels involved in the festival.

During the mooring in the city, an open board will be organized on the sailing ships. The crew of the Mir will organize excursions for all interested people, tell about maritime engineering and brief on the way of life on one of most beautiful sailing ships. At present, 131 cadets of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping and Voronin Arctic Maritime Institute are undergoing training aboard the ship. The students study such disciplines as maritime navigation, the operation of ship power plants and ship electrical equipment, and automation equipment. Training will give the cadets an excellent opportunity to solidify theoretical knowledge in open sea.

The mooring in Den Helder will last till June 25. Then the Mir will leave for St Petersburg and new cadets of Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping will board the sailing ship to undergo training.

For the first time Sail Den Helder was held in 1993 and had a chance to win recognition of admirers of maritime romantic. By tradition historical ships, warships and up-to-date vessels take part in Sail Den Helder.
