Mir Sailing Ship takes part in the Celebration of the Victory Day

On May 09, 2017 the celebration of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War was held on the board of the sailing ship Mir in Hamburg (Germany).

The ceremony started from the breakdown of the students that had a practical training on the vessel as well as from the greeting of the Victory Banner. The sailing ship's master Andrey Orlov congratulated all guests on the great fest.

During the stay in the seaport of the city an open board was organized on Mir. Everyone could board the ship, get acquainted with its crew, stand abaft the steering wheel and even strike the ship's bell.

Besides, as part of the sailing practice the sailing ship took part in the celebration of the 828th anniversary of the establishment of the Hamburg Seaport. In the course of the ceremonies an excursion for the children of the Russian “Azbuka” school was arranged on the vessel. The students gave detailed information to the schoolchildren about the sailing ship's design, sailing training and sea professions.

Next point of destination for Mir is Larvik Seaport (Norway).
