Start of Summer Navigational Aids Installation in the Volgo-Caspian Sea Shipping Canal

The installation of the summer navigational aids was started in the Volgo-Caspian Sea Shipping Canal (VCSSC) on March 15, 2017.

A preliminary preparation of the NA that included cleaning and painting as well as inspection of the lighting facilities was conducted by the FSUE “Rosmorport” Astrakhan Branch. Even now more than 300 sea buoys are ready for the oncoming navigation and loaded to the vessels for further installation. Moreover, first 28 summer  buoys have already been set in the VCSSC area 111 km-138 km.

The operations are conducted with the use of the deck cargo barges aimed to ship buoys and RB-45, Lev Tretyakov, Kapitan Ostanin motor vessels owned by FSUE “Rosmorport”. Equipment installation is expected to be finished in April 2017.

As far as the period of summer navigation 2017 is concerned, navigation equipment is under preparation in the 37 seaports and terminals of the Russian Federation. The change of the navigation circumstances to the summer scheme will depend on ice circumstances and estimated time of ice coating break.

By now summer buoys installation has been finished in the Rostov-on-Don, Azov and Yeysk Seaports waters.
