On January 7, 2017, шcebreakers of FSUE “Rosmorport” successfully finished the most complex icebreaking pilotage of Iogann Makhmastal and Sinegorsk vessels in Pevek seaport, having provided delivery of construction materials in the most northern seaport of Russia. For the first time in the history of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) icebreakers have prolonged the period of active navigation along this route till January, having provided end to end transition of transport vessels from the Western border of the NSR water area almost to the Eastern one.

Delivery of about 10 thousand tons of general freights in Pevek seaport is necessary for construction of a quay for the purpose of providing the parking of floating atomic thermal power plant.

On December 14, 2016, a convoy of vessels comprising Iogann Makhmastal motor ship and Sinegorsk motor ship, escorted by Kapitan Dranitsyn diesel-powered icebreaker of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Murmansk Branch proceeded from the seaport Arkhangelsk to the water area of the Northern Sea Route. On December 28 vessels have reached Sannikov Strait separating the Laptev Sea from the East Siberian Sea.

In connection with a difficult ice situation: high compression by ices which reached the maximum 3 points according to the decision of the management of the enterprise, from Sannikov Strait the convoy of vessels moved under escort of Kapitan Dranitsyn icebreaker, and also of the second Admiral Makarov diesel-electric icebreaker which had been sent to the navigation area beforehand.

In the future, ice scabbling in the water area and at Pevek seaport will be performed by efforts of icebreakers of FSUE “Rosmorport” to ensure possibility of mooring and unloading of vessels.

FSUE “Rosmorport” is the largest operator of diesel electric icebreakers capable to carry out icebreaking escort of any complexity. At the moment the enterprise manages 35 operable icebreakers. Besides, the enterprise implements the program for expansion of the icebreaker fleet.
