FSUE “Rosmorport” Icebreakers Prepare For Tests In The Kara Sea

On April 13, 2016 diesel-electric icebreakers Murmansk and Vladivostok of FSUE “Rosmorport” arrived in Murmansk to prepare for further ice testing.
In the nearest future in the Kola Bay in the water area of “Shipyard No. 35” there will be conducted tests of towing winches of the icebreakers. When the tests are completed, the vessels will head for the Western section of Arctic, where the ice passability of the new icebreakers in different conditions and equipment operation in the Arctic conditions will be tested under the ice test program approved by Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
In Murmansk the icebreaker crews will be joined by specialists of “Vyborg Shipyard” PJSC, FSUE “Krylovsky State Scientific Center”, “Central Research and Design Institute of Maritime Fleet” CJSC, FSUE “National Park “Russian Arctic” and Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. Also, representatives of the Tranzas company, manufacturer of marine navigation equipment, designers and manufacturers of integrated vessel control systems of SPA “Avrora”, manufacturers of rudder propellers Steerprop Ltd., manufacturers of marine engines of Wartsila will board the icebreakers to ensure inspection and testing of operation of the corresponding equipment during the ice tests.
