On November, 9th, 2009 the Government of the Kaliningrad region welcomed the delegation of Karlskruna (Sweden) which included the mayor of Karlskruna K. Svensson, senior management representatives of the city administration K. Mattisson, S. Augustinsson, T. Almlof and representatives of the ferry operator StenaLine H. Hansson, U. Martensson, K. Lants. The Minister of infrastructure development of the Kaliningrad region Government A.S. Rolbinov, Deputy director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Kaliningrad branch A.F. Demenok, captain of the Kaliningrad port V.G. Beljaev, representatives of the governmental bodies of the Kaliningrad region participated in the meeting from the Russian side.

During the meeting along with other questions the issue of the organization of ferry passenger-and-freight transportation between the ports of Karlskruna and Kaliningrad was discussed. The Deputy director of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Kaliningrad branch A.F. Demenok reported about the wide experience FSUE “Rosmorport” had in the ferry communication organization, in particular, about the direct participation of the enterprise in the organization of the ferry line Karlshamn (Sweden) – Klaipeda (Lithuania) – Kaliningrad (Russia) that functioned earlier. He informed about the infrastructure of the railway ferry complex in Baltiysk being ready to receive StenaLine ships and expressed the interest of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Kaliningrad branch in cooperation on this issue.

During the visit the Swedish delegation visited the railway ferry complex in Baltiysk. The representatives of the StenaLine company highly appreciated the technical condition and the complex possibilities.
