Berth No. 1b water area of the Ultramar terminal was put into operation

Another phase of reconstruction (phase 3.2) at the Ultramar marine terminal in the seaport of Ust-Luga has been completed. In accordance with the Rosmorrechflot permit, the water area of berth No. 1b has been put into operation. The terminal complex reconstruction works are carried out within the framework of the federal project "Development of the backbone network of seaports".

During phase 3.2, the bottom near berth No. 1b was deepened up to -17.2 m. FSUE "Rosmorport", acting as the client for the terminal water area reconstruction, oversaw the contractor's removal of 288.44 thousand cub. m of soil from a 5.08-hectare area, achieving the specified parameters. The upgraded berth No. 1b is planned to be used for transshipping fertilizers in containers and bulk cargo.

The works carried out as part of the Ultramar terminal reconstruction will enhance the terminal's competitiveness. Combined with previously commissioned berthing facilities at the terminal, the safe entry of vessels with a draft of up to 15.35 m is now ensured.

Furthermore, the increased water area size and depth will improve the terminal's operational capabilities for loading mineral fertilizers, iron ore pellets, hot-briquetted iron (HBI), and pig iron from shore-based storage onto marine vessels.

By 2030, upon completion of the entire reconstruction project, the Ultramar terminal's capacity is set to increase from the current 29.5 million tons to 44.5 million tons per year.

Previously, FSUE "Rosmorport" reported the commissioning of the water area near berth No. 1a at the Ultramar  terminal. The enterprise carried out dredging works amounting to 949.4 thousand cub. m over an area of 38.7 hectares.
