Victory Day at the Moryak recreation center: in memory and respect for the heroes of the Great Patriotic War

On May 15, a commemorative event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory took place in the Moryak recreation center in Moscow region. The solemn event was attended by employees and veterans of the water transport industry, representatives of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Rosmorrechflot, FSUE “Rosmorport”, the regional public organization “Council of Veterans of the Marine and River Fleet”, as well as cadets - future specialists of the maritime industry.

The guests of honor were Konstantin Anisimov, Deputy Head of Rosmorrechflot, Andrey Kuropyatnikov, General Director of FSUE “Morsvyazsputnik”, Alexey Klyavin, President of the All-Russian Industry Association of Employers “Russian Chamber of Shipping”, Yuri Mikhailov, Chairman of the Council of Veterans of Marine and River Fleet, Anna Isayeva, Chairman of the Public Council at Rosmorrechflot, Vladimir Maltsev, Chairman of the All-Russian Fleet Support Movement, Alexander Aksenov, First Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Council of Veterans, and other heads of key associations of veterans and organizations in the field of water transport. FSUE “Rosmorport”, the organizer of the event, was presented by its Executive Director Igor Shevchuk.

The centerpiece of the event was the laying of flowers and wreaths at the memorial “In Memory of Fallen Sailors and Ships Lost During the Great Patriotic War in 1941-1945”. Father Oleg, the rector of the temple of sailors and rivermen, held a prayer service in memory of the fallen defenders of the Motherland, their memory was honored by participants with a minute of silence.

The guard of honor at the monument was carried by cadets of the Academy of Water Transport of the Russian University of Transport. The students solemnly brought out the flag of the Russian Federation, the flag of the Ministry of Transport of Russia and the Victory Banner. As a sign of military glory and blessing for the peaceful sky, the cadets presented the participants of the event with St. George ribbons.

At the end of the ceremony of laying flowers honored guests made their speeches. Konstantin Anisimov addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. He noted the special significance of the anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War for the whole country.

“President of the Russian Federation has declared this year the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. In all branches of all subordinate agencies of Rosmorrechflot from Kaliningrad to the Far East there are many actions where we pay tribute to the participants of the Great Patriotic War, veterans and those who are now fighting on the fronts of the special military operation,” Konstantin Anisimov said.

The Deputy Head of Rosmorrechflot also thanked FSUE “Rosmorport” for organizing the event at a traditionally high level.

In his speech Yuri Mikhailov emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and noted the invaluable contribution to the Victory of sailors and rivermen, who along with other defenders of the country resisted the Nazis: created the Road of Life on Ladoga, ferried invaluable cargoes from allied countries, brought closer the liberation of the Motherland from the enemy.

The solemn part of the ceremony was concluded by the speech of Igor Shevchuk, who expressed his sincere gratitude to the participants and noted that FSUE “Rosmorport” was taking all necessary measures for the annual organization of the event at a proper level.

The festive rally continued with a concert program, which included musical numbers, poems and songs of the war years performed by a creative team. Veterans and cadets who took part in the ceremony were presented with souvenirs from FSUE “Rosmorport”.

A field kitchen worked on a specially equipped site - a tent was set up where guests were treated to dishes from the soldier's cuisine. The commemorative event ended with the campaign of planting an alley of lilac bushes on the territory of the recreation center, in which veterans, honored guests and cadets took part, thus symbolizing the connection of generations and our devotion to the memory of those who fought for the freedom and independence of the country.

On the day of the festive event FSUE “Rosmorport” organized an exhibition in the Moryak recreation center dedicated to the feats of heroic sailors during the Great Patriotic War. Information for the exhibit was provided by the Museum of Marine and River Fleet. The premises of the recreation center and the festive tent were decorated with drawings of children and grandchildren of the enterprise's employees who took part in the marathon for Victory Day.

The symbolic location of the event gives it special significance. The Moryak recreation center is an iconic place in the history of the country's water transport. In Soviet times, a pioneer flotilla, founded with the participation of the Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Papanin, operated here. During the war years Papanin made a significant contribution to the organization of stable navigation along the Northern Sea Route and the construction of strategically important ports in Arkhangelsk, Murmansk and the Far East. His name is forever inscribed in the history of the maritime industry as an example of high professionalism and selfless service to the Motherland, an embodiment of the ideals of courage and patriotism.

FSUE “Rosmorport” expresses its sincere gratitude to all those who preserve and pass on to future generations the memory of the Victory, courage and unity of the people. Such events not only make a tribute to the heroes, but also serve as an important contribution to the patriotic education of young people, the formation of a sense of pride for their country and respect for its history.
