FSUE “Rosmorport” starts repair dredging at the Taganrog Approach Channel

FSUE “Rosmorport” has started repair dredging works in the water area of the seaport of Taganrog. Dredging is carried out as part of the project on restoration of design dimensions at the Taganrog approach channel and on approaches to the hydraulic structures of the seaport of Taganrog.

Currently the works are carried out by the enterprise's own dredging fleet: the multi-bucket dredger Dnestr performs dredging at the canal, while the dredging barge Deltovaya-10 is used to transport excavated soil to the underwater dump. In addition, the multi-bucket dredger Severnaya with the dredgers Morskaya and Trudovaya are expected to arrive at the site by the end of March.

Moreover, in the nearest future the repair dredging is expected to start in the water area of floating berth No. 9 of the seaport of Taganrog using multi-bucket dredger Kuban-2 and dredging vessels Odesskaya-6, Taganrogskaya, Deltovaya-11.
A total of 1,532 thousand cubic meters of bottom soil is to be extracted and transported to disposal areas at the seaport of Taganrog in 2025. It is planned to extract 1,062 thousand cubic meters of bottom soil with the help of own dredging equipment of FSUE “Rosmorport”, while another 470 thousand cubic meters will be extracted with the use of equipment of a contractor organization, which will be determined following the competitive procedures. In addition to the existing fleet, the enterprise is preparing to relocate from Astrakhan, when the river navigation starts, an additional dredger consisting of the multi-bucket dredger Severo-Zapadny – 503 and three dredging barges.

From July to December 2025, FSUE “Rosmorport” also plans to perform repair dredging in the amount of 380 thousand cubic meters in order to maintain navigational depths of the Azov-Don Sea Canal. As a result of the works, the canal draught will have been increased by the end of the year.

In addition, as part of the measures on improvement of navigation conditions in the seaports of Azov and Rostov-on-Don in 2025, it is planned to perform works in the amount of 80 thousand cubic meters in order to implement the project “Ecological substantiation of economic activities to maintain depths on navigable sections of the Don River from the seaport of Azov (3,169 km) to 3,147 km and from 3,142.4 km to the settlement of Aksai (3,121 km) for the period 2023-2033”.  The above-mentioned works will ensure a navigational depth of 4 meters on the navigable section of the Don River from 3,121 km to 3,169 km.
