Koporye bilge water removing ship, under construction by order of FSUE “Rosmorport”, set afloat

On August 22, a solemn ceremony of launching the Koporye bilge water removing ship (BWR), which is being constructed by FSUE “Rosmorport” order at Okskaya Shipyard JSC (town of Navashino, Nizhny Novgorod Region), took place. The vessel is intended for operation at the North-Western Basin Branch. The vessel is expected to be transferred to the enterprise by the end of 2023.

FSUE “Rosmorport” was represented at the event by Sergey Korovin, Head of the Fleet Development and Construction Department; the shipyard was represented by Denis Samsikov, General Director. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Administration of the Navashinsky Urban District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Federal Security Service of Russia.

The honor to become the vessel's godmother was granted to Ekaterina Fedyunina, chief specialist of the Auxiliary and Training Fleet Operation Office of the Fleet Operation Department of FSUE “Rosmorport”.

Koporye is the first vessel of the RST 38 project series under construction at Okskaya Shipyard JSC. The second one, the bilge water removing ship Koppi, is being built for the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Eastern Basin Branch.

The main purpose of the BWR is the collection of oily waters from vessels, their sedimentation, separation with pumping of oil products into the oil residue tank and delivery of oil residue ashore to a storage, separated clean water - ashore or overboard in authorized areas, as well as collection of sewage and garbage from vessels with their transportation and delivery to onshore treatment facilities.

With appropriate further equipment, the vessel can be used as an auxiliary transport to deliver Oil Spill Response oil-gathering equipment and booms to the oil spill site (outside the accidental spill area). The BWR provides an innovative oil spill search system based on the processing and analysis of data received from a standard radar station using additional software. It is possible to provide for delivery of up to 50 cubic meters of fresh water to the shore using purified water tanks.
