The Mir sailboat takes on board more than 100 cadets of the second shift

Sailing practice on the Mir sailboat of FSUE “Rosmorport” has ended for 120 cadets of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping. From June 26 to June 27, the Mir sailboat took on board a new shift of students – 118 cadets of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, who will be accompanied by three heads of the practice.

The previous shift practiced in the Baltic Sea. During 62 days, cadets gained knowledge and skills necessary for sea work: they studied the structure of the vessel, the basics of watchkeeping, worked on deck and in the engine room, and also took part in the preparation and installation of sails, rigging work.

On June 25, at the end of the sailing practice for the first shift of cadets, a festive event dedicated to the Day of the Seafarer and the upcoming Day of Workers of the Maritime and River Fleet took place on the Mir sailboat. The management staff of the FSUE “Rosmorport” North-Western Basin Branch, Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping and the UNDER SAIL marine club took part in the event. FSUE “Rosmorport” together with the marine club is implementing a project on the sailboat that allows anyone to join the cadets.

The new shift will last for more than two months, from June 27 to September 6, and will take place in the Baltic Sea, where cadets will be able to work out previously acquired theoretical skills.
