Moskva and Novorossiysk icebreakers headed to the seaport of Vanino to provide icebreaker assistance

Moskva and Novorossiysk icebreakers of FSUE “Rosmorport” left the seaport of Vladivostok for the seaport of Vanino to provide icebreaker assistance. This is the first sea passage for both icebreakers in 2021. Novorossiysk icebreaker has already operated in the seaport of Vanino, while the Moskva icebreaker has not yet been there.

During the winter season of 2020-2021, the icebreaker assistance in the seaport of Vanino will be provided by two linear icebreakers at once for the first time. At the first stage, there will be Moskva and Novorossiysk, then the Moskva icebreaker will be replaced by the Kapitan Khlebnikov icebreaker.

The Moskva icebreaker is a diesel-electric icebreaker of project 21900 and is the lead vessel in the series (the second icebreaker of the series is the Saint Petersburg icebreaker). The Novorossiysk icebreaker is the last vessel in the series (including Vladivostok and "Murmansk" icebreakers), built in accordance with the modernized 21900М project. The vessel is equipped with a helipad, has a capacity of 18 MW, and is able to go through ices of up to 1.5 meters thickness.

In addition, since the beginning of the new year, the Truzhenik tugboat with a high-level ice-class which became the part of FSUE “Rosmorport” fleet in 2020 has been operating in the seaport of Vanino.

The fleet of the enterprise already provides icebreaker assistance in the seaports of the Gulf of Finland, seaports of Magadan, Arkhangelsk, Astrakhan, Olya, Rostov-on-Don, Azov, Taganrog, on the approaches to the seaport of Eysk, as well as in the water area of the Volga-Caspian marine shipping and Saimen channels.
