Onego Shipyard launches the Smelaya scow under construction by order of the FSUE “Rosmorport”

A solemn ceremony of launching a self-propelled dump scow of NV-600 “Smelaya” project, being built by order of FSUE “Rosmorport”, was held at the Onega shipbuilding and ship-repairing yard.

During the event, the traditional ceremony of "christening" of the ship took place. The honorary right to become a godmother and bless the ship for a long and happy voyage was granted to Elena Boitsova, an engineer of the plant's planning and dispatching Department, who has been working in shipbuilding for almost fifteen years. According to naval tradition, the "godmother" broke a bottle of champagne on the bow of the ship, thus marking the beginning of its "new life."

The contract for the design and construction of two soil haulage scows with a hold volume of 600 m3 between FSUE "Rosmorport" and LLC "Onego Shipyard" was signed in October 2018. Scow Smelaya is intended for work in the Makhachkala branch of FSUE "Rosmorport". The deadline for the delivery of the vessels under the contract is October 2020.

According to Apandi Nurmagomedov, director of the FSUE "Rosmorport" Makhachkala branch, the replenishment of the branch's fleet with the new Smelaya dredging scow will significantly increase the volume of dredging operations. The already operated scow Silnaya, previously built by OSSRP, has proven itself on the positive side. The branch has sufficient experience in operating the vessel of this project, its advantages are appreciated at their true worth, the branch notes.

The project for a series of vessels was developed by JCSC Spetsudoproekt. The construction is carried out under the supervision and in accordance with the requirements of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

During the construction of the ships, the equipment of Russian production, as well as of the countries of the Customs Union, was used to the maximum extent. The ship's propelling unit was assembled in Russia. The vessel has a modular hull and simplified contours, as well as a container-type main power plant. During the construction of ships, a modular method of constructing the hull of the ship was used, which made it possible, among other things, due to the simplified shape of the hull contours, to reduce costs during construction, to provide the possibility of inserting an additional compartment in the hold.

The engine room is located on the upper deck, as a propulsion complex, two container-type diesel units installed on the deck in the aft part of the vessel are used, operating on lifting propellers with fixed-pitch propellers, which will reduce the costs of operating the main power plant of the vessel, as well as perform inspections and repairs of the air propellant without docking the vessel.
