Official Ceremony of Hoisting the Russian Federation State Flag on the Working Boat Lotsman Baskakov

The official ceremony of hoisting the Russian Federation state flag on the working boat Lotsman Baskakov and the signing of the acceptance certificate for its transfer to FSUE “Rosmorport” were held on the Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment in the city of Saint Petersburg on December 24, 2015.

The participants were General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport” Andrey Tarasenko, employees of the central office and the North-Western Basin Branch of the enterprise, as well as representatives of the Yaroslavsky shipyard.

Today, with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport, FSUE “Rosmorport” fleet has been replenished with yet another modern ship, which will play an important part in ensuring the navigation safety in the Gulf of Finland. This boat model already proved itself during the Olympic Games in Sochi. Moreover, the Lotsman Baskakov has been improved and adapted for the region: the boat can sail in thin ice, up to 55 centimeters thick, providing a fast and efficient delivery of pilots to ships.

The vessel is intended for operation in river estuaries, coastal areas of high and inland seas, straits, seaport waters and will be used for solving such tasks as: inspection of condition of navigable waterways, inspection and environmental monitoring of water areas, participation in rescue operations, delivery and removal of pilots from ships and pilotage services at waterways.

The boat, named after the famous pilot Alexander Baskakov, was put into operation a month earlier than planned.
