According to decision No. 47-RU47507302-SG-39/58-2015 of Rosmorrechflot dated 14.12.2015 section No. 1 of the protective structure of the Southern basin of Ust-Luga Seaport, constructed during the first project stage of construction of the said seaport hydraulic structure, has been put into operation.

Section No. 1 of the structure, the ordering customer of which was FSUE “Rosmorport”, was under construction from June 2012 to November 2014 within the framework of the Federal Target Program “Russian Transport System Development (2010-2020)” in order to protect the Southern basin of Ust-Luga Seaport (container terminal water area, liquefied petroleum gas transshipment complex, multipurpose transshipment complex “Yug-2” and the road-railway ferry complex) from the effects of ice, drifts and swell.

During the construction, section No. 1 of the structure with the length of more than 1 km and with the top marks (variable in length) from +4.5 to +5.5 meters according to the Baltic Elevation System was completed. At the head of section No. 1 there was set an 8-meter high “Kolonna”-type navigation mark, designed to provide navigational safety of ships in the Southern basin of Ust-Luga Seaport.

The total expenses for the first phase of construction of the protective structure, financed with the budget investments and the enterprise's own funds, amounted to more than 1.8 billion rubles.

The enterprise is currently implementing the second phase of construction of the protective structure, whereby section No. 2 of the length of almost 1.3 km and with the top marks of 5.5 meters according to the Baltic Elevation System is under construction. During the construction, at the head of the structure there will be set a 10 meter high navigation mark with an independent power supply and also there will be formed a berth with projected depth at the quay wall up to 5 meters, designed for cutter mooring.
