Dmitry Medvedev Visits Onezhsky shipyard of FSUE "Rosmorport"

On 23 June Chairman of the Government Dmitry Medvedev made a working visit to Onezhsky shipyard in Petrazovodsk, which had reopened after 2 years of stoppage caused by bankruptcy.

In the end of 2014 the Russian Government supported decision to restart its operation and transfer it to FSUE “Rosmorport” economic authority – the largest owner of auxiliary fleet, that uses 250 vessels of different kind and spends 2 bln rubles on repairs and reconstruction of its fleet and 3 bln rubles on new vessels construction annually.

Previously technical and auxiliary fleets were purchased abroad. Nowadays, production technologies have become available in Russia. The plant’s stock of orders is now set for the next three years and is estimated at more than 2 bln rubles. It will take 1 or two years to restore the production facilities and reach the planned production capacity of 5 – 6 vessels a year.

All these measures will not only allow to develop import substitution and create about 1,000 work places in the region, but also ensure fulfillment of the long-term program of the FSUE “Rosmorport” development strategy, aimed at improvement of management mechanisms, business diversification, investment prospects and minimize operating costs.
