FSUE "Rosmorport" to Dredge 31 mln m<sup>3</sup> by 2015

On 19 February in Moscow the II International Forum of Dredging Companies took place with FSUE "Rosmorport" being the general partner of the event.

Representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, Rosmorrechflot and largest dredging companies were invited to the discusssion.

The discussions were focused on contemporary dredging technologies and assessment of Russian ports demands for such technologies. Besides, the participants analyzed the amendments to legislation concerning dredging arrangements and reviewed ecological issues.

In the frame of the forum the FSUE "Rosmorport" Executive Director Andrey Lavrishchev made a report on the prospects for Russian seaports development in the mid-term. In his speech he pointed out that the volume of repair dredging works performed by the enterprise grows steadily, year by year.

Thus the enterprise dredged 39.6 mln m3 during 2005-2009, and more than 94 mln m3 in 2010-2014. In the current year it is planned to dredge 31 mln m3 during construction and reconstruction of navigable facilities.

Besides, Andrey Lavrishchev spoke on the enterprise activities aimed to replenish its dredging fleet. In particular, in past November-December three dredging vessels with the volume of holds of 1 000 m3 were laid at the Krasnoye Sormovo shipyard in Nizhny Novgorod.  Those vessels are supposed to be used for repair dredging in the waters and approaches to the Big Port of Saint-Petersburg, Ust-Luga and Ruapse seaports.
