Deputy General Director for Navigation Safety of FSUE “Rosmorport” Makes Business Trip to Sakhalin

Deputy General Director for Navigation Safety of FSUE “Rosmorport” Viktor Vanyukov went on a business trip to Sakhalin Island on 1–2 December 2014.

During the visit Viktor Vanyukov met the management of the Sakhalin Branch, FSE “Administration of Sakhalin Seaport” and also the masters of Korsakov Seaport, Prigorodnoye Seaport and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Marine Rescue Subcenter.

The meetings were focused on the issues of development of the maritime navigation safety system at Sakhalin, provision of navigation safety and prevention of pollution from Sakhalin Branch vessels, maintenance of the VTS and GMDSS facilities, as well as arrangement of maritime hydrographic provision and operation of the Sakhalin branch fleet in the seaports of Sakhalin Island. Besides, the issues of design and new construction of engineering and technical means for provision of transportation safety in the waters of Sakhalin seaports were discussed.

In the framework of the trip a commisssion headed by Viktor Vanyukov reviewed and assessed the technical condition of the maritime navigation safety system facilities, including the NAVTEX facility at Kholmsk Seaport located in the village of Polyakovo, and the Anniva Bay VTS facilities located in Korsakov Seaport. Besides, the commission inspected the operation of pilotage services, navigational-hydrographic divisions and fleet of the Sakhalin Branch in the seaports of Korsakov and Kholmsk.

FSUE “Rosmorport” is going to implement the project for reconstruction of the NAVTEX system in Kholmsk Seaport in order to provide vessels with weather information, storm alerts, ice information and navigation alerts. Realization of the project will enhance navigation safety in the responsibility area of the Russian Federation in the Tatar Straits. At present the design works are in progress. After their completion the project documentation will be submitted to the state ecological and state expertises. The building and assembly works are to start in Q3 2015.
