Training ship “Professor Khlyustin” assigned to FSUE “Rosmorport” on the right of economic management came up to the area of research in Kurilo-Kamchatsk Region of the Pacific on 2 October 2014 at 9 a.m. (Vladivostok time) according to the established schedule.
 
The expedition, that started on 25 September in Vladivostok seaport, was organized in order to study long-term effects of the accident at “Fukusima-1” APP.
 
It is planned to make 10 stations for depth measurement and water sampling during the trip, two of which have been already made. As for 6 p.m. local time the ship is going to the third station. Works at each station take about an hour.
 
For the two recent days of the expedition, according to the practical training program, the cadets are taught abandonment of vessel, rules of safe-jacket use, survival on sea and combating hypothermia. Moreover, a separate group of cadets joined the works with deep-sea winch at the stations.
 
According to the master of the “Professor Khlyustin” ship Konstantin Shkurin, current weather conditions on the ship’s course are satisfying, nevertheless, on coming Sunday gale-force wind with the speed of 40m/c is expected to be. It can influence the course of the expedition. However, the crew hopes to cope with the aim and plans to finish work at the last station till 5 October. In the nearest future the ship will entry into the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky seaport to take on board fresh water.
