Official Meeting on Implementation of Big Port of Zarubino Project

In Moscow on July 23, 2014 an official Russian-Chinese meeting took place concerned with the implementation of the Big Port of Zarubino project with the participation of Bayin Chaolu, Governor of the Chinese province of Jilin, Andrey Tarasenko, General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport”, Alexander Vinokurov, President of the “Summa” group of companies, as well as leaders of the other large business entities of both countries and representatives of the governmental authorities.
 
The Big Port of Zarubino project provides for construction of a deep-water seaport with a capacity of up to 100 million tons of cargo per year, and the volume of investment is estimated at $3 billion.
 
The two sides discussed the perspectives of construction of the relevant port infrastructure facilities and the access routes, the timeline for completing the project and other issues connected with determining the order of interaction in the framework of the project.
 
During the meeting Andrey Tarasenko announced that the project would be implemented as a public-private partnership, and FSUE “Rosmorport” is ready to take part in construction of the part of infrastructure (hydraulic structures) of the Big Port of Zarubino.
 
Agreement on cooperation for implementation of investment project for construction of marine terminals in Zarubino Seaport was signed between FSUE “Rosmorport” and the “Summa” group of companies on May 23, 2014. The document provides for close cooperation between the parties during the drafting of the declaration of intent to invest in the construction of appropriate port infrastructure in Zarubino Seaport.

 By the end of 2013 in Zarubino Seaport 55.4 thousand tons of cargo have been handled, which is 2.2 times less than the amount of transshipment in 2012. However, for 4 months of 2014 the amount of cargo handling in the seaport is 42.9 thousand tons, which is almost 3 times more than for the comparable period of the last year.
