Meeting to Discuss Navigation Safety Issues in Rostov-on-Don

From 17 to 18 July 2013 the deputy directors of the FSUE “Rosmorport” branches for navigation safety conducted a meeting in Rostov-on-Don. The meeting was chaired by V.Y. Vanyukov, Deputy General Director for Navigation Safety of FSUE “Rosmorport”. Masters of the seaports of Azov, Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog also took part in the event.

The participants of the meeting discussed a wide range of managerial issues related to the increase of the navigation safety level, prevention of emergency situations at ships, execution of pilotages, navigational and hydrographic provision of sailing, and prevention of environmental pollution. The participants of the meeting drafted recommendations on the development and maintenance of VTS and GMDSS.

The meeting schedule also included two exercises. During the first demonstration exercise a floating warning sign was set out and taken off with the use of a standard hoisting device of the MZ-315 lotsmeister boat. The second exercise featured firefighting at the Kapitan Demidov icebreaker, and was conducted together with an EMERCOM firefighting team. The participants of the meeting expressed a high opinion of the condition of the vessels and the work of the crews of the Azov Basin Branch.

Recommendations elaborated during the meeting were distributed to the FSUE “Rosmorport” branches.
