16 mWt icebreaker laid down for FSUE "Rosmorport"

On December, 26 at the Vyborg shipyard the 16 mWt diesel icebreaker of the 21900M project was laid down. The customer is the Federal Agency of Sea and River transport and the developer is the FSUE "Rosmorport".

FSUE "Rosmorport" plans to use the icebreaker for large-capacity vessels icebreaking pilotage, for towage of vessels and other floating construction in ice and clear water, to perform rescue operations in ice and clear water and for performing as a fire boat. Contractual term of shipbuilding - year 2015.

This 21900М project icebreaker - is the second among three 16 mWt linear icebreakers planned for construction towards the Federal budget till 2015. The Finnish shipyard Arctech Helsinki will participate the vessel's sale. The first projectal icebreaker was laid down at the Vyborg shipyard on October, 17 2012.

The FSUE "Rosmorport" disposes of the biggest group of diesel icebreakers in the world. Vessels are use to pilotage during winter navigation at freezing sea ports of Russian Federation.
