Pilotage of an oil platform base

On May, 31 2012 FSUE "Rosmorport" Vostochny branch Pilot service in limited visibility conditions carried out pilotage of a gravitational concrete base of a new unique oil platform "Berkut". The base was piloted from the place of its construction (Vostochniy seaport "Sukhoi" dock) to the seaport anchorage. Later the base will be moved to the site of installation at the Sakhalin shelf.The pilotage of the 7 nautical miles length was carried out with five tugboats including Vostochny branch vessels.
The highly professional pilotage was provided by Vostochny branch first category pilots under the direction of the deputy head of Vostochny seaport Pilot service, senior pilot N.Tsesar.

Information:
The base will become a part of the ice-resistant stationary platform "Berkut" at the hydrocarbons field Arkutun-Dagi (Sakhalin bay). In is designed for year-round expluatation in the seismic activity zone and able to resist low temperatures (above -44 C°), 18 meters high sea waves and 2 meters thick ice cover.
The base dimensions are 132x100 meters. It is 54,7 meters high and its weight is 160.000 tons.
