The orchestra of FSUE “Rosmorport” and Maritime State University named after admiral G.I. Nevelskoy performs at the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 events

Musicians from the orchestra of the FSUE “Rosmorport” Far Eastern Basin Branch of and Maritime State University named after admiral G.I. Nevelskoy, conducted by Anatoly Yakimenko, performed at four events held during the 10th Eastern Economic Forum.

On September 3, the orchestra played at the award ceremony for the winners and prize-winners of the children's and youth regatta of the International Sailing Parade. The musicians also took part in the grand opening of the Far East Street exhibition which featured a procession with a large St. George's ribbon in honor of the 80th anniversary of the victory over militaristic Japan.

The following day, the musicians performed on the frigate Nadezhda on the occasion of the visit of Russian Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin and his meeting with the ship's crew and cadets from Maritime State University named after admiral G.I. Nevelskoy. On September 5, the musical ensemble played at the award ceremony for the crews of the Roskongress Cup sailing regatta.

In addition, today the musicians performed at the Zvezda Shipyard, where the naming ceremony for the tanker Ivan Aivazovsky for Sovkomflot PJSC took place.

During a working trip to the forum, Sergey Pylin, General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport”, met with the orchestra musicians. He inspected the recently renovated rehearsal room and discussed the 2025 tour schedule with the team.

According to Anatoly Yakimenko, the orchestra gave 14 solo themed concerts from January to July. The ensemble toured cities in Primorye and the Far East.

“Today, the orchestra has 23 musicians who play wind and percussion instruments. We also regularly invite a string ensemble and vocalists. Our repertoire includes over a thousand pieces of classical, jazz, pop, rock, and dance music,” Anatoly Yakimenko said.

Sergey Pylin wished the conductor and all the musicians further success in their art, noting the orchestra's significant contribution to preserving naval traditions in the Far East.

The orchestra of the Far Eastern Basin Branch of FSUE “Rosmorport” and Maritime State University named after admiral G.I. Nevelskoy was formed in 2008. Its permanent artistic director and conductor is Anatoly Yakimenko.

Today, it is the only professional ensemble among civilian universities in Siberia and the Far East that is both a concert orchestra and the one performing military repertoire. The musicians accompany military training and various naval rituals, perform parade concerts – medleys of musical works with rearrangements.

The orchestra is a regular participant in the cultural program of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
