FSUE “Rosmorport” and Maritime State University named after admiral G.I. Nevelskoy to keep jointly developing practical training for future sailors

On September 4, Sergey Pylin, General Director of FSUE “Rosmorport”, and Denis Burov, Rector of Maritime State University named after admiral G.I. Nevelskoy, signed a cooperation agreement aimed at improving education in the field of maritime and river transport and training qualified personnel for industry enterprises.

The ceremony took place during the 10th Eastern Economic Forum on the sailing training vessel Nadezhda, moored in the seaport of Vladivostok. Also on board were university cadets who are currently undergoing their third session of sailing practice.

The parties agreed to preserve and develop traditions of training specialists for the maritime industry. They plan to expand the practical program for cadets and university students with the prospect of employment at the enterprise.

The university's teaching staff will have the opportunity to undergo training at FSUE “Rosmorport”. The document also contains agreements on targeted training for future employees of the enterprise.

The parties to the agreement will hold joint conferences and seminars on topical issues in science and education. In addition, students and cadets will be regularly introduced to career opportunities at FSUE “Rosmorport” during job fairs and in the university’s digital environment Fakultetus.

“Today's agreement takes the long-standing and successful cooperation between FSUE “Rosmorport” and one of the oldest maritime educational institutions in the country, Maritime State University named after admiral G.I. Nevelskoy, to a new level. It is fitting that the agreement was signed onboard the Nadezhda frigate, where thousands of university cadets, future excellent sailors and shipbuilders, underwent their sailing training”, Sergey Pylin said.

An effective partnership with the university will contribute to the growth in popularity of maritime professions, the maintenance of consistently high-quality education at the university, and the appearance of new personnel who will begin their careers in transport industry enterprises, including FSUE “Rosmorport”, he added.

In turn, Denis Burov emphasized that for many decades, FSUE “Rosmorport” had been one of the most important systemic partners for the university.

“We are delighted that our cadets have a unique opportunity to undergo sailing training on the Nadezhda sailboat, which is the pride and historical symbol of Vladivostok. Many of our graduates successfully find employment with FSUE “Rosmorport”, the rector of Maritime State University named after admiral G.I. Nevelskoy said.

Earlier, during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2025, FSUE “Rosmorport” and Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping signed an updated agreement on cooperation in the field of training and professional development of maritime industry specialists. The ceremony took place on June 20 on the Mir sailing training vessel in the seaport Big Port of St. Petersburg.
